The General Assembly Meeting of the Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities, a member of the Administrative Board of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), was held on 17 December 2022 in the Capital Bishkek.

In addition to 108 delegates elected from Kyrgyzstan mayors, local government council members and village headmen, the meeting was attended by Chairman of the Kyrgyz Parliament Shabdanbek Alishev, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Administration Aibek Dzhunushaliev, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Zamirbek Mamasadykov, Chairman of the Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities and Chairman of the Bishkek City Council Kuvanychbek Kongantiev, President of the Congress of Local Communities of Kazakhstan Erkinbek Rakimbaev, Deputy President of the State Agency for Public Service and Local Governments Ramis Alymkulov and nearly 200 guests.

In the general assembly, the 2022 annual report of the Union and the audit commission report were read and approved.

Local government representatives from Turkey, Latvia and Russia attended the meeting via video message. Local administrators from Kazakhstan made a presentation on cooperation with the Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities.

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak sent a congratulatory message to the General Assembly Meeting of the Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities. In his video message, Solak stated that Kyrgyzstan is one of the countries that TDBB works most closely and is represented in the Administrative Board of the Union. Solak said, “As TDBB, we are pleased to work closely with Kyrgyzstan. To date, many projects for Kyrgyzstan have been implemented. To mention the prominent activities, Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Köl Province, Bulan Sögöttü Turkic World Mosque, translation of ‘Manas Epic’ into Turkish, publication of Talas book, Experience Sharing Programs for Kyrgyzstan Municipalities in Turkey, Experience Sharing Programs for Kyrgyzstan Kindergarten Administrators and Internship Programs for Manas University Students can be examples. We also have important ongoing projects such as the renovation of the Karasaev Museum in Karakol. From now on, we are ready to do our part to improve relations between the local governments of the two countries. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a productive meeting, and present our greetings and best wishes to all participants”.

The meeting ended with the release of the Union Bodies and the awarding of the municipal employees who contributed to the development of Kyrgyzstan local governments.
