Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) December Administrative Board Meeting was hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality on 09 December 2022 with the participation of 19 local administrators from 5 different countries (Albania, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, Mongolia and Turkey).

The meeting, under the chairmanship of President of TDBB and also Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, TDBB Board members, Union of Albanian Association of Municipalities Executive Director Agron Haxhimali, President of Union of Azerbaijan Municipalities  Temraz Tagiyev, North Macedonia Mayor of Tetovo Bilall Kasami, President of Mongolia Association of Local Authorities Batbold Sundui, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Kilis Servet Ramazan, Mayor of Bağcılar Abdullah Özdemir, Mayor of Başiskele Yasin Özlü, Mayor of Bayrampaşa Atila Aydıner, Mayor of Beykoz Murat Aydın, Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Pendik Ahmet Cin, Mayor of Selçuklu Ahmet Pekyatımcı, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Mayor of Tavşanlı Mustafa Güler, Mayor of Ümraniye İsmet Yıldırım, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Ömer Arısoy and Mayor of Meram Mustafa Kavuş.

The meeting continued with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak giving information about the projects carried out since the Administrative Board meeting on 27 July 2022 and the agenda, and discussion of the agenda items.

Within this framework, it was decided to realize the “Mosque and Qur’an School Building Project in Plovdiv Asenovgrad, Bulgaria” requested by the Bulgarian Muslim Religious Chief Mufti in cooperation with TDBB and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, to organize a visit to Mongolia under the coordination of TDBB by an expert team to be formed from its sister city Zeytinburnu Municipality, upon the request of Darkhan (Mongolia) Municipality for sharing experiences on “Educating Children with Autism”, to organize a visit to Mongolia under the coordination of TDBB by an expert team to be formed from its sister city Pendik Municipality upon the request of Chingeltei (Mongolia) Municipality for sharing experiences on “Waste Collection and Recycling”, to realize “Contribution to Annual Expenses of Bosnia and Herzegovina Srebrenica Student Dormitory Project” requested by EMMAUS in cooperation with Selçuklu Municipality, to realize “Construction of Additional Classroom Building for Anatolian Primary and Secondary School Project” requested by Mamusa (Kosova) Municipality, in cooperation with TDBB and Mamusa Municipality’s sister cities, to support the monthly expenses of the dormitory building in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, built by Bosnia and Herzegovina Emmaus Solidarity and Assistance Association, by TDBB throughout 2023, to organize an experience sharing program for TDBB Palestine member municipalities in Istanbul and Şahinbey on 12-17 December 2022 in cooperation with TDBB and member municipalities, to organize an expert training program for educators coming from Kyrgyzstan in 2023, within the scope of the “Preschool Development Project”, in cooperation with TDBB and member municipalities, to organize an information and experience sharing program for TDBB Moldova Gagauz Autonomous Region member mayors in 2023 in cooperation with TDBB, member municipalities and International Union of Agricultural Cities, to organize an experience sharing program for the delegations of Mongolia’s Orkhon, Dornogovi and Selenge Municipalities under the coordination of TDBB and hosted by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality, to work on establishing a sister city relationship,  under the coordination of TDBB, between Uzbekistan and Turkey Municipalities (Samarkand and Konya and Gaziantep Metropolitan, Kokand and Balıkesir Metropolitan, Hive and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Termiz and Şahinbey Municipalities), to organize an information and experience sharing program for Uzbekistan municipalities in 2023 in cooperation with TDBB and member municipalities, to carry out the process to strengthen the relations of Kyrgyzstan Municipalities with their sister cities in Turkey, to realize the “Project for the Purchase of 1 Fire Truck Project” requested by the Municipality of Skopje (North Macedonia), under the coordination of TDBB, in cooperation with the sister city of Skopje Municipality, Konya Metropolitan Municipality, to realize “Donji Vakuf (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Municipality Building Repair Project” and “Ayvaz Dede Inn Project in Prussian” in cooperation with TDBB and its sister city Şehzadeler Municipality, to give support to “East Turkestan Republic Day Commemoration Program” organized by the East Turkistan Education and Solidarity Association in Istanbul, by TDBB, to give support the printed material expenses of the “One Road One Generation: Opportunities and Challenges Congress” organized by Konya Necmettin Erbakan University in Uzbekistan, by TDBB, to organize a visit program to Bosnia and Herzegovina in December 2022 by a delegation of TDBB and related municipalities to realize the opening ceremonies of the projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina completed in cooperation with TDBB and member municipalities and to update the amount of support given to master’s and doctoral students who are enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at universities in Turkey and who are working on “Local Administrations and Urban Studies in Turkic Republics and Related Communities”.

In addition, at the meeting, it was decided to accept the membership applications of Beit Fajjar (Palestine), Nileen (Palestine), Khiva (Uzbekistan), Termiz (Uzbekistan), Kokand (Uzbekistan), Kharkhorin (Mongolia), Orkhon (Mongolia) Municipalities. 

After the meeting, the Members of the Administrative Board visited Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay in his office. The program was completed with the visit of the delegation to the historical and cultural places of Konya.
