The 5th International Folklore Festival, organized by Şahinbey Municipality, a member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Administrative Board, was held in Şahinbey (Gaziantep) between 09 and 11 September 2022.
The 5th International Folklore Festival Folk, where TDBB supported the participants, was participated by dance teams from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, India, TRNC, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Egypt, Moldova, Poland and Romania, as well as Turkey.
The 5th International Folklore Festival organized by Şahinbey Municipality started with a cortege march. The walk, which started at Mecidiye Inn, ended in Balıklı Park.
Talking at Balıklı Park, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu said, “There are nearly 200 countries in the world. Each of these countries has different race, dress, language and culture. It is not easy to see all of them. We, as Şahinbey Municipality, invite guests from these countries to come here with the International Folklore Festival, which we organize for the 5th time this year, and make it possible for them to get to know our country and for us to get to know them. In addition to the folk dance team from Turkey, we have valuable guests from TRNC, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Macedonia, Albania, India, Georgia in International Folklore Festival, which we are organizing for the 5th time this year. I welcome them all.”
The performances organized by folklore teams from many countries attracted great interest from the citizens.
In the festival, Kubat, Buray and Madrigal gave a musical feast to the people of Gaziantep with their beautiful songs.
