A cooperation protocol was signed between Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Uzbekistan Yükseliş Institution at a ceremony held in Bursa on 11 June 2022.
The signing ceremony was attended by TDBB President and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, President of Uzbekistan Yükseliş National Institution Bobur Bekmurodov, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan Davron Razakov, Mayor of Samarkand Fazliddin Umarov, Mayor of Kokand Maruf Usmanov, Mayor of Khiva Temur Davletov and Deputy Head of the National Institution of Yükseliş Askar Manathanov.
At the ceremony, Mayor Altay pointed out that the relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey have improved recently and said, As Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), we want to work more closely with the cities of Uzbekistan. We are planning to visit Uzbekistan with TDBB members. We want our mayors to see Uzbekistan, which is the beginning of our civilization. I hope that this cooperation protocol will be beneficial.
President of the Yükseliş National Movement of Uzbekistan Bobur Bekmurodov said, “Thank you very much for inviting us to the General Assembly and the International Conference. This visit is the beginning of our official relations. The mayors of three historical cities of Uzbekistan, Samarkand, Kokand and Khiva, are also participating in the event, and we propose to sign a sister city protocol with the historical cities of Turkey. Thanks for everything”.
In the meeting between the delegations held at the ceremony, it was agreed that the TDBB and Uzbekistan Yükseliş Institution should initiate the necessary steps for the sister city relationship of Samarkand and Konya and Gaziantep, Hive and Bursa, Kokand and Balıkesir and Termiz and Şahinbey municipalities.
After the speeches, a cooperation protocol was signed between the parties. The program ended with mutual gift giving and a family photo shoot to commemorate the day.
Uzbekistan Delegation Visited TDBB
President of Uzbekistan Yükseliş Institution Bobur Bekmurodov and the accompanying delegation consisting of the Governors of Khiva, Kokand and Samarkand also visited Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) within the scope of their visit to Turkey.
