The 4th Zeytinburnu Turkish World Story Festival, organized in cooperation with the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Zeytinburnu Municipality, was held in Zeytinburnu on 2-4 June 2022.

The festival, in which Azerbaijan was the focus country and which was held with the slogan “Remember Your Story”, was attended by 38 writers and academics from 8 countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iran, Greece and Crimea) and the participants discussed various topics of Turkish literature in different sessions.

In the ‘4th Zeytinburnu Turkish World Story Festival’, in addition to the subjects of short stories in Turkish literature, the development of short stories in the Turkish world and world literature, different topics such as myths, fantastic literature, heroes, periodicals and translation between Turkish dialects were also covered.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Ömer Arısoy said, “Today we are organizing the 4th of the Turkish World Story Festival. We used to organize it as the International Story Festival. Starting this year, we will organize the Turkish World Story Festival. 38 literary figures, writers and translators from the Turkish world participated in this festival. Hopefully, we plan to continue our festival by increasing its effectiveness even more from now on. Again, simultaneously with the story festival, we opened a miniature exhibition inspired by 13 of the 13 Dede Korkut stories.”

President of Azerbaijan Writers Union Anar Rızayev said, “I think it is a very important festival. Young writers told their stories and discussed about it. It is an honor for us to cross paths of this festival with Azerbaijan. We were very happy that Turkey gave us moral support and stood by us during the 44-day victory period. She further strengthened our sense of brotherhood.”

Within the scope of the Story Festival, Fatemeh Saba Jafari’s miniature exhibition and voice artist Azerin concert were also included. In the festival, the ties of brotherhood and kinship in the narratives were highlighted with storytellers and translators from different parts of the Turkish world through texts.
