Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) North Macedonia member Mayor of Ohrid and accompanying delegation visited TDBB on 9 March 2022.

The delegation, which met with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, included Mayor of Ohrid Kiril Pecakov, Ohrid Municipality Municipal Council President Saso Donev and Ohrid Municipality Foreign Relations expert Ilker Mustafa.

In his speech at the meeting, Mayor of Ohrid Pecakov said, “I thank you for welcoming us here in a friendly and hospitable manner. I am a newly elected mayor in Ohrid. After I was elected, I preferred Turkey in my first visit abroad. In Macedonia, I hear the name of TDBB a lot and I follow your projects. We want to do many joint projects with TDBB in the new process. Ohrid is one of the cities in Macedonia where Turks live intensely. Many ethnic elements live in peace in North Macedonia. We want to develop tourism in our city. We are also open to tourism investments. We would be pleased if you would give us the opportunity to introduce ourselves at the tourism fairs in Turkey. We would also like to share experiences with municipalities in Turkey on issues such as tourism, infrastructure, sewerage, water and cleaning”.

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak said, “We are pleased that you made your first foreign visit to Turkey after you were elected and that you visited our Union. North Macedonia is one of the countries where TDBB works intensively. We have 15 members from North Macedonia. We have also a member of the Administrative Board. After the pandemic, we are ready to work more actively with Ohrid and other Macedonian Municipalities. In the new period, joint projects can be carried out with Ohrid both through its sister cities and with our Union. As TDBB, we are ready to conduct experience sharing and expert training programs in every field.”

The visit was concluded with the exchange of gifts and a photo shoot to commemorate the visit.
