“Experience Sharing Program on Cable Car and Thermal Facility Management”, organized by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) in cooperation with Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Karatay Municipality, for the Municipality of Olovo of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was held in Bursa and Konya on 12-16 December 2021.
The program was attended by Mayor of Olovo Đemal Memagić, Mayor Advisor of Olovo Senad Degirmendžić, Olovo Municipality Expert on Investment Projects Sedin Rotić and Deputy Manager of “Aquaterm” Hotel Esad Hamzić.
On Sunday, December 12, 2021, the first day of the program, the delegation was welcomed by Deputy Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Fethi Yıldız. Within the scope of Bursa program, the delegation met with the General Manager of Bursa Teleferik Inc., the Technical Manager of Bursa Teleferik A.Ş and the representatives of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department on the second day, and listened to a detailed presentation on ‘the construction of the ropeway and operation of the ropeway’. By making a field trip, he saw the cable car system up close.
In the Konya part of the program, on December 15, 2021, the delegation visited the Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca in his office. Then, the delegation examined the thermal facility projects implemented by Karatay Municipality on site.
Mayor of Olovo Demal Memagic said, “Karatay Thermal Holiday Village is an excellent and visionary project in every aspect. Our city is also very rich in terms of thermal water resources. We aim to carry out similar projects by applying the knowledge and experience we get from here in our city.”
Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca also expressed his pleasure to host the Bosnia and Herzegovina Olovo Mayor and his delegation in Karatay, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina is of great importance to them. Kılca said, “As municipality, we have a sister city protocol with some cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this context, we are carrying out joint projects on the restoration of many artifacts and structures inherited from our ancestors. As in Olovo, we also have a thermal water source. We are trying to share with Olovo our experience and all the knowledge we have gained from Karatay Thermal Holiday Village. Besides, we want to benefit from the experiences in Olovo and we would like to further strengthen our mutual relations by visiting Olovo.”
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, the delegation went to Istanbul and visited TDBB. The delegation met with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak at the headquarters of the Union and was informed about the activities of the Union.
During the meeting, Mayor of Olovo Đemal Memagić said, “The program has been very productive for us. We met with two very successful municipalities in terms of cable car systems and thermal facilities in Turkey and made field trips. Thank you for organizing such a beautiful program.”
TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak said, “We were pleased that the program was productive. It was important that it be a thematic program. As TDBB, we are ready to cooperate with Olovo”.
The program was concluded with the presentation of Certificates of Participation and a souvenir photo taken to commemorate the day.
