Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) November Executive Board Meeting was held in Bursa on 20 November 2021 hosted by Osmangazi Municipality.
The meeting, chaired by President of TDBB and also Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, was attended by Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş, Hosting Mayor of Osmangazi Mustafa Dündar, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, TDBB Executive Board members Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Başiskele Mehmet Yasin Özlü, Mayor of Beykoz Murat Aydın, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu and Mayor of Zeytinburnu Ömer Arısoy.
The meeting continued with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak’s giving information about the work carried out since the Administrative Board meeting on October 27, 2021 and the agenda, and discussion of the agenda items.
Within this framework, it was decided to conduct studies on the projects requested by our TDBB Palestine members, Gaza Metropolitan and Beit Hanoun Municipalities, to participate on behalf of TDBB in the “Turkish World Science and Culture Festival Project Competition Final” event to be held in Uzbekistan between 23-28 November 2021 by the Turkish World Children’s Foundation, to give financial support by TDBB for the monthly expenses of the dormitory building built in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Emmaus Solidarity and Assistance Association throughout 2022, to realize the “Restoration Project of the Foundation Building Affiliated to the Islamic Union” requested by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Trebinje Islamic Union in cooperation with TDBB and Karatay Municipality, to publish the proceedings book of the international conference on “Talas War and Its Place in World History”, which was held between 10-11 September 2021 in cooperation with TDBB and Kyrgyzstan Talas University, among TDBB publications, to organize the experience sharing program requested by the Kyrgyzstan State Mortgage Joint Stock Company in cooperation with TDBB and TOKİ, to conduct studies on strengthening the relations between Özgen (Kyrgyzstan) Municipality and its sister cities Bolu, Toroslar (Mersin) and Yıldırım (Bursa) under the coordination of TDBB, to realize the “Fence Project Around the Complex Containing Historical Artifacts from the Karakhanid Period” requested by Özgen (Kyrgyzstan) Municipality in cooperation with TDBB and its sister municipalities, to carry out work on establishing a sister city relationship between Taş-Kömür (Kyrgyzstan) Municipality and Zonguldak Municipality under the coordination of TDBB, to organize joint projects and activities due to the selection of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality as the “2022 Turkish World Capital of Culture”, to conduct studies on the development of cooperation between the Somali Ministry of Interior and TDBB, to give support to “Bosnia and Herzegovina Remembrance Day” program to be held in Ankara on 08 December 2021 by the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by TDBB, to conduct studies on strengthening the relations between Talas (Kyrgyzstan) Municipality and its sister cities Talas (Kayseri) and Iznik (Bursa) under the coordination of TDBB and to held TDBB December Executive Board and High Advisory Board Meetings at TDBB Headquarters in Istanbul.
Visit to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality
After the meeting, TDBB Executive Board members visited Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş in his office. Bursa, which was selected as the 2022 Turkish World Culture Capital, was congratulated during the visit, and evaluations were made on joint projects and activities that can be done with Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) within the scope of the Cultural Capital activities in 2022.
After the visit, the TDBB delegation toured the historical and cultural places of Bursa.
