Under the coordination of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), Karatay Municipality and Teocak Municipality of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a sister city protocol with a ceremony held in Teocak on 5 November 2021.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Teocak Tayib Muminovic, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, and Deputy Mayors of Karatay Municipality Ramazan Şevik, Mehmet Eğin, Mehmet Toknal and Osman Ciger.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the protocol, Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca emphasized that the Balkans are their heartland and said that they never felt like foreigners in these lands.
Mayor Hasan Kılca said, “It is a great happiness for all of us to be in this beautiful land, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey are two brother countries with historical ties. We prepared a protocol with Teocak Municipality long ago, but due to the pandemic, we can sign our protocol now. We, as nations, are already brothers; with this cooperation protocol, we are now sister municipalities with Teocak Municipality. In addition to sharing experience with our Teocak Municipality, we want to undertake joint works in cultural, social and many other fields. With this step we have taken, we have strengthened our bond with our heartland. We will continue to expand this cooperation in the coming periods”.

Mayor of Teocak Tayib Muminovic also wished that the protocol would be beneficial and said that with the said cooperation, the ties between the two countries and the municipality will be strengthened. Tayib Muminovic said, We are happy to host a delegation from Turkey for the first time in our city. Now we are sister municipalities with Karatay Municipality. We will do great things in the coming days. I would like to thank Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Mayor of Karatay Mr. Hasan Kılca and his colleagues, who are always with us.”

The ceremony was concluded with the exchange of gifts and a family photo commemorating the day.
