Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) October Administrative Board Meeting hosted by Rize Municipality was made on October 27, 2021 with the participation of local administrators from 7 different countries (Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), North Macedonia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and Turkey).
The meeting, chaired by President of TDBB and also Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, TDBB Administrative Board members Mayor of Rize Rahmi Metin, General Director of Association of Albanian Municipalities Agron Haxhimalı, TRNC Mayor of Güzelyurt Mahmut Özçınar, Kyrgyzstan General Director of Union of Local Governments Bektur Orozbaev, Mayor of Kilis Servet Ramazan, Mayor of Başiskele Mehmet Yasin Özlü, Mayor of Bayrampaşa Atila Aydıner, Mayor of Beykoz Murat Aydın, Mayor of Osmangazi Mustafa Dündar, Mayor of Selçuklu Ahmet Pekyatımcı, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Mayor of Şehzadeler Ömer Faruk Çelik, Mayor of Tavşanlı Mustafa Güler, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Ömer Arısoy, North Macedonia Deputy Mayor of Gostivar Municipality Gzim Hacieyüp and Ganbayar Harnuud on behalf of the Union of Mongolian Municipalities.
The meeting continued with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak’s briefing on the work carried out since the Administrative Board meeting on 30 July 2021 and the agenda, and discussion of the agenda items.
Within this framework, it was decided to work on the “Construction of a Turkish Cultural Center Project” in the Palestinian city of Rafah in cooperation with TDBB and member municipalities, to realize the Kusein Karasaev Museum Landscaping Project requested by Kyrgyzstan Regional Development Agency in cooperation with TDBB, sister cities of Kara-Kol municipality and member municipalities, to realize the “Landscape Project of Mostar Cemal Biyedic University Student Dormitory” requested by the Sarajevo Embassy in cooperation with TDBB and Selçuklu (Konya) Municipality, to realize the “Turkish Classroom” project in Bosnia and Herzegovina Donji Vakuf requested by Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute in cooperation with TDBB and Selçuklu (Konya) Municipality, to organize information and experience sharing programs on Developing Public-Private Sector Cooperation for Albanian members of our Union in cooperation with United Nations Development Agency (UNDP), Istanbul International Private Sector and Development Center (IICPSD) and TDBB, to build 1 bungalow house for the “Srebrenica Nursing Home Center” built by the Emmaus International Solidarity and Assistance Association in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with TDBB and Selçuklu Municipality, to carry out work to establish a sister city relationship of Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) Metropolitan Municipality with the eligible municipalities under the coordination of TDBB, to conduct work on the book project requested by the Kyrgyzstan Osh National Museum of History and Archeology, to organize a cultural trip program to Turkey in the spring/summer term of 2022 for high school students studying in North Macedonia in cooperation with TDBB and our member municipalities, to support “Turkish World Science and Culture Festival Project Contests Final” event to be held in Uzbekistan between 23-28 November 2021 and to provide participation on behalf of TDBB, to participate on behalf of TDBB in the “UCLG-MEWA Board of Directors and Council Meeting” to be held by UCLG-MEWA on 11-13 November 2021 in Balıkesir, to meet the park and garden furniture needed within the scope of “Atatürk Park Renovation Project” within the framework of TDBB and Sister City, to initiate the necessary work to establish a sister city relationship between Şahinbey (Gaziantep) Municipality and Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit and Shusha Municipalities under the coordination of TDBB, to initiate work to establish a sister city relationship between the city of Turkestan (Kazakhstan) and the municipalities of Zeytinburnu (Istanbul) and Üsküdar (Istanbul) under the coordination of TDBB, to initiate work on experience sharing and cooperation between the Municipality of Olovo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the municipalities that are experienced in Thermal Tourism and Ropeway Management, to carry out work for the establishment of sister city relations of the Municipality of Gracanica (Bosnia and Herzegovina) with the appropriate municipalities under the coordination of TDBB and for experience sharing on solid waste collection, to organize information and experience sharing programs for TDBB Moldova Gagauz Autonomous Region member municipalities and Azerbaijan member municipalities, to publish the books Turkic Republics in the 30th Anniversary of Their Independence among TDBB publications, to organize the TDBB Local Administrations Summit together with the TDBB 6th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting to be held in 2022, to give participation support to and represent TDBB in “Korkut Ata Turkish World Film Festival Award Ceremony”, which will be held in Istanbul on 12 November 2021 under the auspices of the T.R. Ministry of Culture and Tourism by TDBB, to realize 2021 Stationery Aid project for students in need in Zeytinburnu district in cooperation with TDBB and Zeytinburnu Municipality, to accept the cooperation request of Uzbekistan Youth Center, to carry out joint projects with TDBB, to initiate the work the necessary to establish a sister city relationship between Vareş (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Municipality and Başiskele (Kocaeli) Municipality under the coordination of TDBB, to carry out the necessary work for the establishment of sister city relations between Sultanhanı (Aksaray) Municipality and Zeytinburnu (Istanbul) Municipality under the coordination of TDBB, to carry out work on the “Construction of Youth and Children’s Sports Fields in Bosnia and Herzegovina Project” in cooperation with sister cities within the work schedule of 2022, to participate on behalf of TDBB in the “CITY EXPO – Antalya Urban Planning and Technologies Fair” to be held in Antalya between 11-13 November 2021 and to accept membership application of Tuzi (Montenegro) Municipality dated October 11, 2021 in accordance with clause c of Article 5 of the statute.
Member Municipalities Regional Meeting was Held
On the occasion of the Administrative Board meeting, the Members of the Administrative Board in Rize came together with the TDBB Member Municipalities in the region at the working meeting on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
In addition to TDBB Administrative Board Members, TDBB Member Municipalities Regional Meeting was attended by Mayor of Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Sekmen, Mayor of Espiye Mustafa Karadere, Deputy Mayor of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Adem Atik, Secretary General of Eastern Black Sea Municipalities Union Mehmet Şentürk and representative of Yakutiye Municipality.
After the meetings, Rize program was completed with the delegation’s visits to historical and cultural places such as Ayder Plateau and Zil Kale.
