6th Turkish World Documentary Film Festival awards, of which the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) is among the project partners, were presented to their winners on October 15, 2021 at a ceremony held on Haliç University campus in Istanbul.

226 films from 13 countries applied to the 6th Turkish World Documentary Film Festival, which was held with the theme of World Language Turkish. 23 members from 9 countries took part in the jury of the festival, where the films competed in the student and professional categories.

In the student category, Turkey’s Feyzi Baran and Kamil Kahraman’s film ‘This Is Not a Goal Too?’ won the first prize, the second prize was won by Turkey’s Bayram Küçük’s film ‘We Have No Other Homeland’, and the third prize was won by Aikol Nurlanbek Uulu’s ‘Meerman’ from Kyrgyzstan and Turkey’s Abdulshakoor Adnan Alakkad’s ‘Nur’.

In the category of professional films, Pınar Okan’s ‘Ordinary Few Days’ film from Turkey won the first prize, Marina Karyagina’s ‘Grandpa Theros’ Babies’ film from Chuvashia (Russia) won the second prize, and third prize was again won by Orhan Tekeoğlu from Turkey, with the movie ‘The Unknown Story of Fatma Kayacı’.

In the special awards category, the “We” film by Azerbaijani Orman Aliyev and the film “2-0” by Cihan Emre Zengin from Turkey received the Jury Encouragement Award, while the Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Tourism Award went to Mohammad Alimoradi from Iran with the movie ‘Ekizler’. The Lifetime Honor Award was given to Tamer Yiğit, the Master Actor of Turkish Cinema. The Turkish World Honorary Award was given to the late Prof. Dr. Nevzat Yalçıntaş.

The award ceremony, which also showed the trailers of the films that made it to the finals and received awards, ended with the presentation of thank you plaques and a souvenir photo shoot.
