“Turkistan (Kazakhstan) Municipality Information and Experience Sharing Program” which is organized by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) in cooperation with Beykoz, Eyüp, Üsküdar and Zeytinburnu Municipalities, was held on 24-29 August 2021 with working and site trips in Istanbul.
The program was attended by TDBB Kazakhstan members who are Deputy Mayor of Turkistan Municipality Zhandos Tasov, Secretary General of Turkistan Municipality Maksat Tangatarov, Council Member of Turkistan Municipality Zhamila Suleymanova, Council Member of Turkistan Municipality Nursultan Zhusipbayev, Head of Business and Tourism Department of Turkistan Municipality Gulzhamal Dahanova, Consultant of Turkistan Municipality Miyarbek Kushenov, Head of IT Department of Turkistan Municipality Timur Akhmetov and Ahmet Yesevi Historical and Cultural Preservation Museum Director Berik Baibolov.
The first day of the program started with visit to Mayor of Üsküdar Hilmi Türkmen and then the delegation did a site trip to see Üsküdar Municipality’s activities. Then the delegation with the guidance of Deputy Mayor Zekeriya Şanlıer visited Üsküdar’s facilities; such as marketplace for women’s labor products, Tebessüm Coffeehouse (Üsküdar Municipality’s Cafe which is running by employees who have down syndrome) and other projects. In the afternoon, the delegation met with Deputy Mayor of Beykoz Engin Köklü and after the meeting they have had, the group visited Beykoz Municipality Solution Center, Beytaş Food Production and Distribution Center, Beykoz Rehabilitation Center and Beykoz Municipality Cumhuriyet Village Marketplace during their site visit.
On 26 August 2021, Thursday, the second day of the program, the delegation visited Mayor of Eyüpsultan Deniz Köken. Mayor Köken informed the delegation about the tourism activities of Eyüpsultan Municipality. After the visit, social service activities were seen in the company of Deputy Mayor of Eyüpsultan Muhammed Çakır. In the afternoon of the second day of the program, the delegation visited Mayor of Zeytinburnu Ömer Arısoy. Mayor Arısoy explained the delegation fundamental factors that play an important role in the development of tourism in Turkey and the work has been proceeding so far in Turkey. Mayor Arısoy also informed the delegation about the works of Zeytinburnu Municipality. After the visit, the participants visited some facilities of Zeytinburnu; such as Akdem, Zeytinburnu soup kitchen and medicinal plants garden and thus the delegation had an opportunity to see the fundamental municipal services and activities of the municipalities.
On the last day of the program, the delegation visited TDBB after the historical peninsula cultural tour of Istanbul. At the Union Headquarters, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak met with the group and informed the participants about the activities of the union and evaluations were made regarding the program. During the meeting with the delegation, cooperation opportunities and what can be done about sister cities were discussed.
The program was completed with the certification ceremony and a family photograph for the memory of the day at the Union headquarters.
