Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Administrative Board Meeting was made on 21 April 2021, via video conference, with the participation from 7 different countries (Azerbaijan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), North Macedonia, Mongolia and Turkey).
The meeting under the chairmanship of President of TDBB and also Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur Ibrahim Altay, was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, TDBB Administrative Board Members who are Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Yüce, Mayor of Rize Municipality Rahmi Metin, General Director of Albania Union of Municipalities Agron Haxhimali, Mayor of Bosnia and Herzegovina Novi Grad Semir Efendic, Mayor of TRNC Güzelyurt Mahmut Özçınar, Secretary General of Union of Azerbaijan Municipalities Tofig Hasanov, Secretary General of Mongolia Association Garam Manadav, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Başiskele Mehmet Yasin Özlü, Mayor of Bayrampaşa Atila Aydıner, Mayor of Fatih M. Ergün Turan, Mayor of Osmangazi Mustafa Dündar, Mayor of Pendik Ahmet Cin, Mayor of Selçuklu Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, Mayor of Şehzadeler Ömer Faruk Çelik, Mayor of Tavşanlı Mustafa Güler, Deputy Mayor of North Macedonia Gostivar Gzim Hacieyüp and Deputy Mayor of Kilis Mustafa Tohumcu.
The meeting continued with the briefing of TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak on the ongoing activities since the last Administrative Board Meeting on 20 January 2021 and the discussion of the meeting’s agenda.
Within this framework, it was decided to support for “511th Ajvatovica Festival” that will take place between 18 and 30 June 2021 and to participate it on behalf of TDBB, to organize an International Symposium with the theme “Development of Local Governments in the Turkic Republics in the 30th Anniversary of their Independence” in the Fall of 2021, to organize joint projects between Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University and TDBB within the framework of the common activity areas, to carry out Fuel Aid Project to Palestine Beyt Hanoun Municipality in cooperation with TDBB and Sister City Selçuklu (Konya) Municipality, to participate in ‘UCLG-MEWA Administrative Board Meeting and Civic Participation Webinar’ to be held on 5 May 2021 by Mayor of Bağcılar (Istanbul) Lokman Çağrıcı and Mayor of Şehzadeler (Manisa) Ömer Faruk Çelik on behalf of TDBB, to organize promotional programs in Sarajevo and Istanbul for the books “Turkey’s Soft Power and Public Diplomacy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandjak Region” and “Tombstones in Bosnia and Herzegovina” which are published as TDBB Publications, to further develop joint projects and activities and between Kyrgyzstan Union of Municipalities and TDBB and conduct the process to develop relations between the two institutions, to organize experience sharing conference on “Role of Municipalities in Pandemic Process” for Mongolian Member Municipalities via video conference, to carry out Fuel Aid Project for TDBB Palestine Member Gaza Municipality in a cooperation with TDBB, Konya Metropolitan, Şahinbey and Beykoz Municipalities, to follow the official procedure of the establishment of the Middle East and West Asia Secretariat of Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) which is based in Konya and to carry out necessary process to develop relations between the two institutions after the establishment process is completed, to evaluate the request from Antalya Orphans and Needy Children Aid Foundation (AYÇOV) which ask for cooperation with similar foundations in the Turkic Republics and to start the necessary process for the ‘Lift Vehicle Project’ for Çatalköy Municipality (TRNC) requested by the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities (KTBB).
The membership requests of the Association for Local Autonomy of Albania (ALAA), Akşehir (Konya), Çeltik (Konya) and Battsengel (Mongolia) were also accepted in the meeting.
