Irina Vlah who is a member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Administrative Board and Governor of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia visited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex on 23 February 2021. Within the framework of Turkey visit, Vlah also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu.

Governor Vlah, after her visit with the President Erdoğan, posited that, “Turkey has always supported Gagauzia for 26 years. Turkey did not let us alone and helped us since the beginning. I requested help for COVID-19 vaccine from President Erdoğan and he said that he would help. In addition, I informed President Erdoğan regarding ongoing infrastructure projects, a multifunctional sport complex construction, a water supply project to Vulcanesti and a construction of ‘Industry College’ which are supported by Turkey”. 

Irina Vlah, during the visit with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Çavuşoğlu, stated that “I invited Turkish business people to invest in Gagauzia. We always encourage and support business people who will invest in our lands and we help them in their any kinds of problems. We would be very glad who comes to our country for work. Additionally, I am very appreciated for the support Turkey gave us”. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated that our Gagauz brothers have always been the bridge for the good relationship with Moldova. He also added that Turkey’s support will continue for Gagauzia for any need.

Irina Vlah, during the meeting with Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu, discussed about the sport complex constructed in Comrat the capital of Gagauzia and its necessities. Minister Kasapoğlu stated that they are ready to provide additional support to Gagauzia for the necessary equipment of the sport complex.

Governor of Gagauzia Vlah asked for the support of the Turkish Government for the establishment of the Football Academy in Gagauzia and for the development and promotion of other sports. Vlah also invited Minister Kasapoğlu to the opening ceremony of the sport complex which is planned to be completed in the spring of 2021.
