Turkic World Tonyukuk Park and the sample Tonyukuk Inscriptions which were built in cooperation with the member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Altındağ Municipality and the International Turkish Academy, was opened with a ceremony on 22 February 2021.
One park in Altındağ was named as “Turkic World Tonyukuk Park” after UNESCO has declared this year as “The Year of Yunus Emre and Turkish Language” for the 1300th anniversary of the establishment of the Tonyukuk Inscriptions which was established in the Orkhon River Valley in the Central Asia in the 8th century. In the park in Altındağ, a special area was designed and a sample Tonyukuk Inscriptions was placed in there.
The opening ceremony was held in Altındağ, Ankara and attended by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop, Mayor of Altındağ and TDBB Administrative Board Member Asım Balcı, MP of Kirkuk and Chairman of the Iraqi Turkmen Front Erşat Salihi, Deputy Foreign Minister Yavuz Selim Kıran, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ankara Abzal Saparbekuly, President of the International Turkish Academy Darkhan Kıdırali and several guests.
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop, in his speech at the opening ceremony, posited that “Due to the 1300th anniversary of the establishment of the Tonyukuk Inscriptions, the International Turkish Academy and Altındağ Municipality made a great cooperation. I wish this park and the Inscriptions will be good for our people which are the symbols of our strong bonds between our ancient history of our beloved nation and the ancestral home. Placing the sample Tonyukuk Inscriptions in the heart of Turkey should be seen the sign of our commitment to our culture and history and our attitude towards our values that reflect the cornerstones of our national ideals. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to bring the sample Tonyukuk Inscriptions here in our homeland from our motherland which is one of the symbols of our high culture of our nation extending within a wide geography”.
Mayor of Altındağ Asım Balcı expressed their gladness for the contribution they made for the sake of the Turkic world as Altındağ Municipality and he added that “As it is known, UNESCO declared 2020 as “Bilge Tonyukuk Year” last year. We have collaboratively conducted a joint work with the International Turkish Academy and named one of our parks as “Turkic World Tonyukuk Park” and placed a sample Tonyukuk Inscriptions there. We are very proud that very significant cultural value of our history will be living in Altındağ. I also would like to thank our Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop for his support of this work”.
After the speeches, the opening ribbon was cut and the participants made a tour in the park.
