Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) High Advisory Board 2020 Meeting was held on December 30, 2020 by video conference method.
The meeting, under the chairmanship of TDBB President Uğur İbrahim Altay, was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, Advisory Board members, TDBB founding president and Istanbul Parliament Member Erol Kaya, TDBB former president İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, Prof. Dr. Salih Aynural (retired faculty member at Istanbul University), Prof. Dr. Osman Horata (Hacettepe University Faculty Member), Prof. Dr. A. Burçin Yereli (Hacettepe University Faculty Member), Prof. Dr. Adem Esen (Istanbul University Faculty Member) and Instructor – Author Özgen Keskin.
The meeting, which started with the opening speech of TDBB President Uğur İbrahim Altay and informing the board about the activities carried out in 2020, continued with the evaluation and suggestions of the board members. At the meeting, activities such as TDBB events conducted during the Pandemic Process, Experience Sharing Programs, Sister City works, Training studies, equipment aids, International and Domestic Contacts, Organized and Supported Social and Cultural Activities, New Memberships, TDBB’s new books and periodicals were presented to the High Advisory Board Members.
In the continuation of the meeting, Advisory Board Members conveyed their opinions and suggestions regarding TDBB activities. Compilation of the best municipal examples other than Turkey, organization of programs on different municipal issues as symposium or panel, continuation of TDBB publications, the establishment of a training academy on municipal works, and reporting and making satisfaction surveys related to the outcomes of the work undertaken were proposed. In addition, as TDBB, cooperating with chambers and foreign trade organizations, supporting businesses with economic outcomes, cooperating with universities, carrying out joint projects with graduate programs, giving success awards, increasing the awareness of TDBB by cooperating with regional and international institutions, organizing visits to Nagorno-Karabakh and TRNC after Pandemic were suggested.
At the end of the meeting, master or graduate students enrolled in universities in Turkey and supported by TDBB support program were listened on their studies of dissertations. It was decided to continue supporting the thesis of the students.
