“The Role of Municipalities in the Pandemic Process” Information and Experience Sharing Program between local governments of Turkey and Uzbekistan was conducted by video-conferencing On November 23, 2020, cooperatively by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Presidency of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). 

The meeting, under the moderatorship of Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak, was attended by Mayor of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Yüce, Mayor of Keçiören Turgut Altınok, Mayor of Beykoz Murat Aydın, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Vice President of TİKA Rahman Nurdun, Deputy Mayor of Osmangazi Cem Kürşad Hasanoğlu, Director of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations Department Mücahit Sami Küçüktığlı, Department Director of TİKA DİOD Uğur Tanyeli, Head of Samarkand Branch of the Presidency of Uzbekistan Public Services Agency Rustamcan Kabulov, Fergana Province Mayor of Kuva Azimcon Yoldaşev, TİKA Uzbekistan Coordinator Cemalettin Tüney and Deputy Head of Investments and Foreign Trade Department of Kashkaderya Province Eldar Zayniddinov.

During the meeting, mayors and local officials from Turkey and Uzbekistan gave information about the measures taken by local governments and work done in the fight against Corona virus.

In the meeting, it was also stated that in order to create a healthy and sustainable future, such meetings should be held more frequently, information and experiences should be shared by exchanging ideas, and joint works should be carried out by sharing best practices.
