Parliament Member of Lebanon Fayssal Karame and Consul General of Lebanon in Istanbul Mazen Kabbara visited Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) on 01 October 2020. During the visit, cooperation opportunities and possible joint projects were discussed in the meeting with Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak.

At the meeting, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak first thanked Lebanese delegation for their visit and gave information about the Union and its activities. He informed the delegation about the joint works done with the member municipalities in Lebanon. He also conveyed his condolences and the message of get well soon, due to the recent port disaster in Beirut.

Parliament Member of Lebanon Fayssal Karame first thanked Secretary General Fahri Solak for hosting them and said: “Considering both geographically and historically, we have a lot in common with Turkey. We look forward to your contributions regarding the transfer of experience in municipalism.” Karame stated that Ottomans ruled Lebanese territory for almost 400 years and added that they expect support from Republic of Turkey and also TDBB for the restoration and preservation of the cultural heritage left by the Ottomans.

Mazen Kabbara, Consul General of Lebanon in Istanbul, stated that there are many Ottoman artifacts especially in Tripoli and that these artifacts can be repaired and preserved properly under the leadership of the Turkish government.
