The new Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in Istanbul Suzan Novobrdalija visited Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) on 31 August 2020.
At the meeting with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak and the Consul General at the Union Headquarters, information was provided for the consul general regarding the activities carried out by TDBB for the municipalities of Kosovo and joint projects of the sister cities of Kosovo and Turkey were discussed.
Consul General Suzan Novobrdalija, stressing the position of Turkey that has always been supported Kosovo, stated that relations between TDBB and Kosovo will be more strengthened, and in this context she will do her best to be ensure that the municipalities of Kosovo become members to TDBB in the near future. Within this framework, she said that she would try to make the municipality of Novo Brdo a member of TDBB in the first place.
Moreover, Secretary General Fahri Solak stressed that the close cooperation with Kosovo is important for Turkey and TDBB, and they are pleased to work with Kosovo. Solak also stated that they want to have more member municipalities and they have the opportunity for more active cooperation with the new members. He also added that “When Novo Brdo Municipality becomes a member of TDBB, we are ready to give them all the support to find them a sister city in Turkey and to implement joint projects. After the pandemic, we might organize an Information and Experience Sharing Program and Expert Training Programs for the municipalities of Kosovo in Turkey at the earliest opportunity”.
