4th International Science and Culture Festival of Turkic World, which was supported by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), was held by Turkish World Children Foundation (TDÇV), under the auspices of Governorate of Ankara, with the cooperation of Altındağ Municipality and Ministry of National Education (MEB) in Ankara in the dates of 5-7 March 2020.

The opening ceremony was attended by Governor of Ankara Vasip Şahin, Member of TDBB Administrative Board and Mayor of Altındağ Asım Balcı, President of Turkish World Children Foundation Güngör Azim Tuna, representatives of political parties, local authorities, school managers, teachers and students.

Governor of Ankara Vasip Şahin, in his speech at the award ceremony, stated that it is important to unite the Turkic world with joint projects in the field of knowledge and science, even though it sometimes only symbolic, in a such time that Turkey was surrounded by threats. Şahin also expressed that he believes that the festival will show the world the unity of the Turkic world and he noted that he believes these children demonstrating their projects today will become the ones that will produce more professional and more advanced technologies in the future.

Mayor of Altındağ Asım Balcı posited that the Turkic world that came together with this event showed the world that it is moving along the path of unity and solidarity with common values.

At the festival where 90 projects from 21 countries were presented, a competition was also held. Future projects in technology, medicine, energy, defense and industry aimed at intellectual development were evaluated by a jury committee composed of Turkish Patent Institute, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey TÜBİTAK, and university professors in the context of the criteria of “innovation, applicability, sustainability and social impact”.

Within the framework of the festival, awards were presented by Governor Vasip Şahin and participants of the protocol to students and teachers who took places in competitions organized in the areas of “inventions” and “projects to make life easier for people with disabilities”.

The aim of the festival is to develop the ability to make scientific projects of children and strengthen cultural cooperation with one another among the children from the Turkic world; it is also encouraged secondary school students to make on new inventions.

Selected 90 projects among the total applications to inventions contest were exhibited in Altındağ Sports Hall in the dates of 5-7 March 2020.
