The fire truck, which was purchased in cooperation with Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and its sister city Tavşanlı Municipality, was delivered to the Municipality of Doboj Istok, Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a ceremony on 20 December 2019.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor of Tavşanlı Mustafa Güler, Mayor of Doboj Istok Kemal Bratic, Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Secretary General Fahri Solak, Tuzla Canton officials, Tavşanlı Deputy Mayor Ismail Aka, local administrators and other guests.
During the delivery ceremony, which began with the visit of the members of the delegation to the Martyrdom of Doboj Istok, Mayor of Doboj Istok Kemal Bratic thanked TDBB and Mustafa Güler for their support and said, “As Doboj Istok Municipality, we always feel the support of TDBB and our sister city Tavşanlı. At this point, I would like to thank TDBB administrators, Mayor of Tavşanlı Mustafa Güler and all our Turkish brothers.”
Mustafa Güler, Mayor of Tavşanlı, said: “We are in constant communication with our brothers from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a municipality, we have established a bridge of heart in Bosnia on behalf of the people of Tavşanlı and we are always on the side of these brothers. Together with the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), we purchased a fire truck and delivered it to Mayor of Doboj Istok, Mr. Kemal Bratic. I wish the vehicle to be auspicious for our Bosnian brothers by wishing to use it for the purpose of supplying more water rather than fires. I would like to express my gratitude to our Bosnian brothers for their hospitality, and I would like to express our efforts to strengthen our friendship and brotherhood further.”
In his speech at the ceremony, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak stated that the main aim of TDBB is to develop cooperation between friendly and brotherly countries in the field of local governments. He said Bosnia was one of the countries where TDBB worked closely and actively. Stating that TDBB operates with 1,170 municipal members from 30 different countries, Solak said that Turkey is trying to maintain diplomatic, political and economic relations with friendly and brotherly countries in the area of local governments. Solak said, “We carry out activities in order to strengthen the human resources infrastructure of the municipalities in the Member Countries as well as to contribute to the equipment and technical infrastructure. We have 28 municipal members from Bosnia. Bosnia and Herzegovina is also one of 11 countries represented on the Administrative Board of TDBB. Nearly 50 projects have been implemented in Bosnia in the last 5 years. I wish the fire truck delivered today to be auspicious to the people of Doboj Istok”.
After the speeches, the key to the fire truck was symbolically handed over to Mayor of Doboj Istok Kemal Bratic. The ceremony ended with Kemal Bratic presenting plaques of thanks.
