The opening ceremony of Turkish Language Class in JU Osnavna Skola Suljo Cilic Primary School in city of Jablanica, Bosnia and Herzegovina organized in cooperation with Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Bağcılar Municipality within the context of Yunus Emre Institute’s “My Choice is Turkish Project” was held on 19 December 2019.

The opening program was attended by Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Jablanica Salem Dediç, Minister of Trade, Tourism and Environment of Neretva Canton of Bosnia and Herzegovina Aydın Teletoviç, Deputy Consulate General of Turkey to Mostar Gamze Algün, National Education Manager of Bağcılar Mustafa Yılmaz, Manager of Bağcılar Hayriye Kayraklı Primary School, the sister school, Bayram Çetin, Jablanica Turkish Delegation and Butmir Delegation, press and many guests.

Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı stated that it was opened two Turkish Language Classes before in two cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Buzim and Travnik by Bağcılar Municipality. Çağırıcı also added that “They wish that they can do more in Bosnia where the legacy of Alija Izetbegovic is. We will try to develop the relationship of the two countries with these kinds of works.”

Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı started to his words with commemorating the former President of Bosnia Alija Izetbegovic and he pointed out that “We, as Bağcılar Municipality, are always supporting our brothers in Bosnia who have been through tough times recently. Bosnia has always been our second homeland to us. In every visit to here, we have the feeling that we are home and we appreciate for your hospitality. We are glad to know that 7 thousand young people chose to learn Turkish as a second language in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have accomplished two Turkish Language Classes in 2018 in Bosnia; one is Buzim Municipality Primary School and the other one is Travnik Municipality Primary School in Travnik. We are trying to do our best in this issue and we have just opened our third Turkish Language Class in Jablanica city of Bosnia in Suljo Cilic Primary School. Our classroom that we have built is fully equipped with smart board, lighting system and heater for 30 students. We wish this classroom will be beneficial for our Bosnian brothers and sisters.”

After the speeches, Turkish Language Class was opened after delegation cut the ribbon during the ceremony. Then, delegation was informed about the school and classrooms. Program was ended after students’ traditional dance performance.
