The statue of the world-famous Kyrgyz author Chingiz Aytmatov built by Keçiören Municipality which is a member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) for his 91st birthday, was opened on 13 December 2019 with a ceremony.

The opening ceremony which was made in Chingiz Aytmatov Park was attended by Mayor of Keçiören Turgut Altınok, Governor of Keçiören Uğur Bulut, Mayor of Kalecik Duhan Kalkan, Kazakh Ambassador to Ankara Abzal Saparbekuly, representatives of foreign missions, bureaucrats, press members, Kyrgyz students and people from Keçiören.

Mayor of Keçiören Turgut Altınok stated, in his speech at the ceremony, that “History of the humanity was written by writers, poets and artists. One of these artists is Chingiz Aytmatov. Today we are opening the statue of Chingiz Aytmatov. When the park is examined, one can see that it is integrated with Chingiz Aytmatov’s literary works. Chingiz Aytmatov will exist with his literary works”.

Kyrgyz Ambassador to Ankara Kubanichbek Omuraliyev underlined the importance of the park for Kyrgyz people and he thanked to Mayor Altınok for the statue of Chingiz Aytmatov. Junusaliyev said that they have begun the necessary process to open a statue of Aytmatov in the park and that they are also planning to make a Kyrgyz tent in the park.

After the speeches, the ceremony was ended after the performance of Aytmatov’s song of “Issık Göl” which he wrote it during his duty as the Ambassador of Brussels by Kyrgyz artists.
