Evaluation Meeting of High Advisory Board of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) was made in Union Headquarters on 26 November 2019.

The meeting was attended by President of TDBB Uğur İbrahim Altay and Executive Board Members and also Advisory Board Members; T. C. Former Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi, Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak, Former Istanbul Member of Parliament Hüseyin Bürge, Former President of TDBB İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, Prof. Dr. Salih Aynural (Former Rector of Rumeli University), Prof. Dr. Osman Horata (Faculty Member of Hacettepe University), Prof. Dr. A. Burçin Yereli (Faculty Member of Hacettepe University), Prof. Dr. Adem Esen (Faculty Member of İstanbul University) and instructor and author Özgen Keskin.

Former Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi, in his speech during the meeting, said that “TDBB is an important union that has accomplished very significant projects since its establishment. TDBB has important roles as a municipality union with its mission and vision with its international way of working compared to other unions in Turkey. Therefore, TDBB has high responsibilities. It should be developed the relations with local governments by taking our President’s international visits to the Balkans and Central Asia into account. 

The meeting started with the presentation of the activities that took place in 2019 and continued with the discussion of the topics on the agenda. In the meeting, the pleasure for TDBB’s reputation for its international works in international stage and its gradual institutionalization were stated and the evaluation of activities of the year 2019 was made.

In the meeting, visiting programs initiated for the development of relations between local governments of TDBB member countries, TDBB Expert Training Programs, Information and Experience Sharing Programs, Sister City Meetings, Educational activities, Infrastructure and equipment assistances, Abroad and domestic visits, organized or supported social, cultural events and fairs, New Memberships, Member Municipality Summits, new publications and periodicals of TDBB were expressed in the presentation to the High Advisory Board members.

Participants who took the floor for speech in the meeting, suggested that strengthening the cooperation of TDBB with universities, further developed relations with Uzbekistan which is the new member of TDBB, increasing the recognition of TDBB with conferences and seminars in Central Asia and the Balkans and highlighting a strategic country each year with the aim of improving relations with.

Graduate Students made Presentations on their Thesis Studies

In the meeting, the candidates that applied on TDBB support program for graduate students who are in master or doctorate programs in Turkish universities and in thesis writing process explained their thesis works to the high advisory board. It was decided to present to the TDBB Administrative Board regarding scholarships for the new applications of the researchers.
