Srebrenica Potocari Memorial Center Renovation Project which was built cooperatively by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Turkey member municipalities was completed. The Center was opened with a ceremony on 1 November 2019.

The ceremony was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, Deputy Mayor of Beykoz Manolya Demirören and Deputy Mayor of Zeytinburnu Osman Dinç.

The delegation examined repaired roof of Potocari Memorial Center that used to be a factory and restored with the support of TDBB during their visit. The building was used each year before the commemoration ceremony to save the genocide victims’ coffins.

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak said that the roof of the center was repaired with the supports of Kocaeli Metropolitan, Beykoz and Zeytinburnu Municipalities. Solak also underlined that Srebrenica genocide is one of the brutal ones in history and he added that Turkey is trying to support the people of Srebrenica who lived such a terrible experience.

Moreover, Solak posited that Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the countries that TDBB works very closely and he added that TDBB has preceded more than 50 projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last four years. Solak also posited that they also have planned to build a bridge in Doboj, to construct the building of Islamic Union in Kljuc and to make a Turkish class in a school in Jablanica in the near future.

One of the officials from Potocari Memorial Center Azir Osmanovic stated that the repairment of the Center’s roof is very important to them considering the fact that they have preserved victims’ coffins of the genocide before the ceremony which has been organizing every year.
