The new building of Ankara Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened with a ceremony organized on 22 October 2019.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu and Ankara Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Sadoviç, in addition to many diplomatic mission representatives and other guests.
During the speech he made at the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak underlined the importance of dual relations between his country and Turkey and added: “Turkey is an important partner for both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. I am sure that the opening of new embassy building will be an occasion for future projects for both Turkish and Bosnian societies.” Pointing out the support Turkey always gives to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Crnadak stated that both countries should work together to move forward in economical and commercial arena. Crnadak also thanked Turkey for the support given to Sarajevo-Belgrade Highway Project, which is important for both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
On the other hand, Minister of Youth and Sports Kasapoğlu pointed out that there is a strong relationship between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina going back to the common historical bonds and indicated that many citizens, who have Bosnian origins but live in Turkey, play the role of a bridge between two countries and this contributes much to the development of dual relations. Kasapoğlu said, “Turkey supports the stability and territorial integrity. Turkey is with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of uniting with European-Atlantic institutions”. Kasapoğlu also remarked that it is glad to see that the perfect relations between two countries have reflected on economic and commercial arena and total trade of 70 million dollars, before current Trade Contract was signed, has reached to 700 million dollars.
Ankara Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Sadoviç expressed his belief that the new building of the embassy will contribute the development of relations between two countries and thanked to the institutions who supported and the guests who attended the opening.
After the protocol speeches the guests were served traditional Bosnian cuisine.
Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) was among the institutions that supported the opening ceremony.
