“Smart City Management and Intelligent Transportation” Expert Training Program organized by the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) in cooperation with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Zeytinburnu Municipality, İspark AS, Metro Istanbul, Belbim AS, Mapikart, İsbak AS and IETT was held on 21-27 April 2019 in Istanbul with presentations and field trips.

The program was attended by Kamza Municipality Secretary General Qemal Çejku, Shkoder Information Technology Specialist Pavli Marku from Albania, Sarajevo Metropolitan Municipality Urban Planning Specialist Lejla Siljevic, Sarajevo Metropolitan Municipality Urban Planning Specialist Selma Bećiragić from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Director of the Department of Economy and Investments of the Bishkek Metropolitan Municipality Gavkharpasha Ashirova, Director of Transportation Department at Bishkek Metropolitan Municipality Kubanychbek Djusupov from Kyrgyzstan, Mayor of Calarasi Nicolae Melnic, CALM Information Technology Specialist Alexandru Pali from Moldova, Nalayk Municipality Municipal Assembly Member Ganbaatar Manaljav, Gorodok Municipality Director of the Department of Transportation Shukbaatar Sharavkhaan, Choybalsan Governor Munkhtur Palam and the Deputy Director of Housing Department at the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development Tseepildorj Bazar from Mongolia.

The first day of the program on April 22, 2019, the delegation visited İSPARK A.Ş. and listened to the presentation about “Smart Parking Systems and Parking Area Management in Metropolitan Cities”. In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited BELBİM and listened to the presentation on “Electronic Fare Collection Systems”.

On the second day of the program, the participants visited MAPİKART and listened to the presentation about the smart cards and conducted visits to the working sites. In the afternoon of the same day, participants visited TDBB. The participants that came together with Secretary General of the TDBB Fahri Solak at the Union’s headquarters were informed about TDBB’s activities and the details of the program. After leaving the TDBB participants visited the Panorama 1453 Museum and Topkapi Turkish World Cultural Houses.

On the third day of the program, on 24 April 2019, the delegation visited ISBAK and listened to the presentations on “Smart Transportation Systems, Intelligent Lighting Systems, and Istanbul Tunnels SCADA System Program”. On the same afternoon, the delegation visited Metro Istanbul and attended the presentations on “Smart Rail System Solutions, Signaling Systems, Passenger Information Systems”.

On the fourth day of the program, the participants attended the 7th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair. Presentations about the Intelligent Urbanization Strategies and Applications were organized for the delegation by the experts from Turkey’s Ministry of Urbanization.

On the fifth day of the program, on Friday, 26 April 2019, the delegation visited IETT and listened to the presentation about the “Management of the Public Transport Systems Network”. On the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited Zeytinburnu Municipality and listened to the presentation about the “Smart Bike Rental System” and made a field visit.

Closing Dinner and Certificate Ceremony

The closing dinner and certificate ceremony of the program was held in Belgradkapi Social facilities hosted by Zeytinburnu Municipality. Besides the delegation, the ceremony was attended by Secretary-General of the TDBB Fahri Solak, Deputy Mayors of Zeytinburnu Mahmut Kocamese and Osman Dinc. In his speech at the dinner, Fahri Solak said, “We hope that the program has been useful for you. As TDBB, we care about such programs and strive to provide the best way for the benefit of the participants”.

The delegation visited Istanbul’s historical and touristic places on Saturday, April 27, 2019. The program was completed on the same day with the return of the delegation to their home countries.
