Nihat Ömeroviç, Mayor of Srebrenik as one of Bosnia and Herzegovina Members of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and the delegation accompanying him visited TDBB on 17 October 2018, Wednesday.
The meeting with Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak at Union’s Headquarters was attended by Mayor of Srebrenik Nihat Ömeroviç, Deputy Mayor of Srebrenik Adnan Bjehiç, Director of Srebrenik Secondary School Zehrudin Muhedinoviç and Member of Islamic Union Mustafa Şabiç.
During the visit in TDBB, the ongoing joint projects and cooperation opportunities were discussed. Within this framework, Mayor of Srebrenik Nihat Ömeroviç stated that they wanted to open a “Turkish Language Class” in secondary school with 450 students. Ömeroviç stated the fact that this is the only school in Srebrenik where Turkish is taught. He added that a village school 6 km far from Srebrenik needed repairment and requested support from TDBB and its members for Turkish Language Class and repairment of the village school.
Besides, Ömeroviç expressed that they had problems about garbage as municipality, and because they lack of equipment and the garbage dump is far from Srebrenik, this causes heavy cost for them. He added that they wanted to cooperate and share experience with Fatih Municipality and demanded the support of TDBB in this issue.
On the other hand during the meeting, Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak stated that Turkish language class in Srebrenik will be opened in cooperation with Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the issue of repairment of the village school will be evaluated in TDBB Administrative Board Meeting.
Touching on the requests of Srebrenik delegation on garbage issue, Solak pointed out that TDBB can contribute to the work that will be done cooperatively with Fatih Municipality about the issue and that the Union can coordinate the experience sharing and the training of the related staff.
The visit ended after gift presentation and photo shooting.
