III. Turkish World Documentary Film Festival Awards where Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) was a project partner were given to their owners on Saturday, October 6, 2018, in Istanbul.

At the award ceremony held in Istanbul University Cemil Bilsel Conference Hall, in the professional category the movie ‘I Didn’t Forget You’ by Ali Hamrayev, a participant from Uzbekistan, won the first place. The second place in professional category went to “Men Turkmenem Men Begem” directed by Didem Şahin from Iraq, while the third place went to director Kaan Atilla from Turkey for the movie “Single Grannies of the Black Sea”.

In the student movies category the first place went to movie “Frog Hunters” directed by Kurt Batuhan from Turkey, while the second place went to movie “Saksak: A Tobacco Documentary” directed by Turan Kubulay. In the same category, Cibek Abdullabaeva from Kyrgyzstan won the third place for the movie ”Woman World”.

The jury’s special awards were also delivered during the ceremony. Alihan Erbaş and Harun Köybaşı received the Turkish Council Silk Road Special Award for the movie “Are You a Man”, while Turkish Culture and Jury Special Award was given to Tilek Murataliev from Kyrgyzstan who participated in the contest with his movie “Can 1916 National Struggle Survive”. The Turkish World Cengiz Aytmatov Special Award was given to Azerbaijani director Najiba Abbasova for movie “2 Languages 1 Harmony”. The Turkish World Documentary Film Festival’s Lifetime Honor Award was given to actor Serdar Gökhan.

The festival where participants from 8 countries and 28 regions, including Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Cyprus and Turkey, were competing with 140 artworks, was organized in cooperation of Ministry of Culture of Republic of Turkey, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), TRT, Istanbul University and Federation of Turkish World Journalists (TDGF).
