The fire truck that was purchased in cooperation of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Bagcilar Municipality was delivered to the Municipality of Skrapar (Albania) with a ceremony held on 12 May 2018.
Major of Bağcılar, Skrapar’s sister city, Lokman Çağırıcı, Secretary-General of the TDBB Fahri Solak, Mayor of Skrapar Municipality Nesim Spahiu, Parliament Member of Albanian Parliament Nasip Naço and other invited guests have participated at the ceremony.
Mayor of Skrapar Nesim Spahiu said in his speech, “Today I am honored to welcome you in our city. Skrapar has changed a lot in recent years and has become an important tourism city. We want to share our knowledge and experiences by transforming the sister city relationship between Bağcılar and Skrapar Municipality into an economic, social and cultural cooperation. I would also like to thank the TDBB managers for their efforts and contributions in the delivery of the fire truck to us. Using this occasion we would like to further increase our cooperation with TDBB.”
Bagcilar Mayor Lokman Çağırıcı said, “I came two years ago to our sister city Skrapar. In two years, Skrapar has changed a lot, has made great progress. That’s why I congratulate your administration for changing Skrapar and giving it a special perspective. I am honored to be here today for a meaningful project. Turkey and Albania have a long shared history. We have a large number of Albanian citizens living in Bağcılar. I would like to welcome you in Bağcılar”.
Nasip Naço, deputy of Albania, said, “The delivery of this fire brigade to Skrapar Municipality is an indication of how important it is to have sister city relations and to cooperate. This vehicle was given at the right place at the right time. In the name of our people, we are grateful to Turkey and TDBB.”
Secretary-General of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Fahri Solak at his speech at the ceremony also said, “I thank you for this warm and friendly welcome. Albania is one of the 29 countries where the Union of Turkish World of Municipalities (TDBB) conducts joint works. We currently have 13 members from Albania. In addition to improving our relationships with these 13 municipalities, we would like to increase the number of member municipalities that would like to join. We wish to see more people from Turkey visiting Skrapar’s natural beauties. The fact that this project was carried out in co-operation with Bağcılar Municipality is one of the examples of active sister city relations. I hope this fire truck will not be used for fires, but only to irrigate the beautiful gardens of the city.”
The program was completed with the signing of the delivery protocol between Skrapar Municipality and TDBB, mutual gift-giving and visiting the Skrapar canyon.
Albanian President Accepted TDBB Delegation
Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı and Secretary-General of the (TDBB) Fahri Solak who were in Albania for the delivery ceremony of the fire truck in cooperation of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Sister Municipality of Bağcılar were accepted by the Albanian President Ilir Meta. Along with the TDBB delegation, Mayor of Skrapar Nesim Spahiu was present at the meeting as well.
