Organized by Sultanbeyli Municipality, member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), 6th International Istanbulensis Poetry Festival was held in Istanbul between 2 and 5 May 2018, with the participation of 38 poets from 17 countries. The theme of the festival for this year was decided as Turkish World Poetry.

In addition to Turkey, the Poetry Festival was attended by poets from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Macedonia, Moldova Gagauz Autonomous Region, Uzbekistan, Romania, Tajikistan, Tatarstan, Turkmenistan and Greece.

During the speech he made at the closing ceremony of the festival, Mayor of Sultanbeyli Hüseyin Keskin thanked all poets and spoke as, “For four days our district and also Istanbul hosted an unforgettable festival. 38 poets from 17 different countries read their poems under the theme of ‘Turkish World’. They met with the young students at the schools of our district and announced the spiritual soul of poetry all around the world. There won’t be any distance between our brothers with whom we are only geographically distant, and we will read poems of peace, friendship and brotherhood together.”

At the closing ceremony poets Adem Turan, Cemalettin Latiç (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Aykut Nasip Kelebek, Gülten Abdula (Romania), Ercan İriş, Habibe Ahmatova (Bulgaria), Hatice Çay, Hasanboy Gayubov (Tajikistan), Kadir Ünal, Mihail Kürkçü (Gagauz Autonomous Region), Sıddık Ertaş, Ramis Aymed (Tatarstan) ve Şakir Kurtulmuş read their poems. The program ended with the concert of Murat Kekilli.
