Member of the Administrative Board of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Güzelyurt Municipality made the ground breaking ceremony of the new municipality building on 9 April 2018, Monday and opening ceremony of Book Cafe (in historical Children School), Kapouti Municipality Building, City Museum and Exhibition Saloon were held on 12 April 2018, Thursday.

The ground breaking and opening ceremonies were attended by the third President of TRNC Derviş Eroğlu, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Derya Kanbay, Mayor of Güzelyurt Mahmut Özçınar, Mayor of Keçiören Mustafa Ak, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, District Governor of Güzelyurt Tevfik Direnç, leader of National Unity Party (Northern Cyprus) Hüseyin Özgürgün, members of parliament and other guests.

Mayor of Güzelyurt Mahmut Özçınar referring to the importance of Book Cafe emphasized that it is important to protect the works as well as revealing them; he added that they are trying to make some places for university students considering that Güzelyurt Municipality has university in it and Book Cafe Project can be taken as a very good example of this aim. Özçınar also stated that the city is developing and in order to carry on the necessities of it they opened a new municipality building in Kapouti. Moreover, Özçınar said that they are also working on culture centre, city park and other projects and he underlined his aim about developing the city at all time.

With the coordination of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), members of TDBB Balıkesir, Hatay, İstanbul, Kocaeli, Malatya, Mersin, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipalities and Isparta, Kilis, Kütahya, Rize, Yalova, Bağcılar, Beykoz, Çayırova, Çekmeköy, Çınarcık, Derince, Esenler, Hacılar, Hendek, Kartal, Keçiören, Kozan, Meram, Pendik, Ortahisar, Selçuklu, Şile, Tarsus, Tavşanlı, Zeytinburnu Municipalities, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Union of Turkish World Municipalities contributed to Book Café with many books.

The ceremony was ended with presenting of plaques of appreciation to the people, institutions, companies and artists who contributed to Book Cafe.
