Bashkir National Cultural Center ‘Ak Tirma’ Group conducting activities in order to keep and promote the Bashkir culture which came to Istanbul as a guest of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), participated in a range of cultural events for the celebration of the Nawruz Festival and took videos in Istanbul in memory of historian, turcologist and the leader of independent movement of Bashkir Zeki Velidi Togan.

Bashkortostan ‘Ak Tirma’ group took videos to Bashkir folk song named “Ancestors’ Song” in a memory of Zeki Velidi Togan and for the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and Bashkirs’ folks song “Baça baça”.. Video filming took place in Istanbul coasts, Bosphorus and historical places of Istanbul. Moreover, the group visited daughter of Zeki Velidi Togan Prof. Dr. Isenbike Togan in Istanbul University, they put flowers on the bust of Togan and made a video.

‘Ak Tirma’ group also visited Union of Turkish World Municipalities Headquarters and made a mini performance there to show their appreciation to TDBB. The program was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, President of Idil (Volga) – Ural Turks Culture and Solidarity Association Gülten Urallı, Bashkir and Tatar students who are studying in Turkey and several citizens.

In addition, ‘Ak Tirma’ group dancers participated to Nawruz activities within the Turkey program organized in Kastamonu Municipality which became Cultural Capital of Turkic World 2018, Keçiören Municipality and Bayrampaşa Municipality by attending concerts with their traditional costumes and presented figures from Bashkir folklore.
