Organized cooperatively by Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Keçiören Municipality and TURKSOY, Nawruz Festival which is accepted as a start of spring season, was celebrated in Keçiören with the concert performances of singers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kosovo, Gagauzia, Bashkortostan, Republic of Sakha-Yakutia, Tatarstan, Tyva Republic, Dagestan and Kabardino Balkaria.

Nawruz Festival Program which took place in Necip Fazıl Theatre Scene was attended by Mayor of Keçiören Mustafa Ak, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Ishankuli Amanlyev, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov, Governor of Keçiören Uğur Bulut and several guests.

Mayor Ak and protocol members jumped over the Nawruz fire which was lit before the program and forged iron as special rituals of Nawruz.

The opening speeches started after presenting samani in small pots to the protocol members which is green sprouting wheat, corn, peas and other grains representing Nawruz. Mayor Mustafa Ak started his speech celebrating guests’ Nawruz Festival and he stated that “We came together with our precious friends who came from Turkic World in order to celebrate Nawruz Festival which symbolizes brotherhood and spring. The Nawruz Festival is our common value celebrated in our geography from Balkans to Central Asia throughout the centuries. Nawruz Spring Festival with its strong unifying symbols is a kind of invitation to the peace, friendship, unity and solidarity. I hope that we will celebrate this festival for centuries. We will be one, we will be big, we will be alive and we will continue to integrate each other”.

In the program, there were also folkloric dance and music performances from Turkic World. Finally, carnations and miniature tents were distributed to the guests.
