Cooperatively by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Bolu Municipality within the framework of Yunus Emre Institute’s “Elective Turkish Courses” Project, Turkish language class established in 9 Eylül Primary School in Tesanj of Bosnia and Herzegovina was inaugurated on 15 March 2018.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Education of Zenica-Doboj Canton Mensur Sinanovic, Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz, Director of Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Mehmet Akif Yaman, Education Counselor of Sarajevo Embassy of Turkey Vasi Ete and, teachers and students.
During the speech he made, Minister of Education of Zenica-Doboj Canton Mensur Sinanovic said that 25 schools in Zenica-Doboj Canton have sister schools in Turkey and thanked Bolu Municipality for the preparation of the class they opened that day.
On the other hand, Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz said Bosnia and Herzegovina is a brother country for Turkey. He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina has common things with Bolu and added, “When I come here I feel myself as if I am in a city of Turkey”. He went on saying that all the municipalities in Turkey has cooperation with Balkan countries and they have also other joint projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to this new language class.
Besides, Director of Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Mehmet Akif Yaman stated that “Elective Turkish Courses” Project continues since 2011 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Yaman said, “Today we have 8.241 students in 150 schools. We opened 22nd Turkish Class in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with TDBB. We aim to open Turkish classes in all schools where Turkish is taught continually”.
After the speeches the ceremony finished after the performance prepared by the students.
