The monument made by Keçiören Municipality on the 125th anniversary of the birth of the famous Kazakh Poet Mağcan Cumabayev was opened with a ceremony held on February 19, 2018.
In Botanical Park where only Mağcan Cumabayev monument in Turkey is located, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkey Abzal Saparbekuly, Mayor of Keçiören Mustafa Ak, Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kaseinov and invited guests attended the ceremony.
Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abzal Saparbekuly who reminded that the poetry of Mağcan Cumabayev was forbidden until Kazakhstan won its independence said, “Poets and writers who deeply feel the unity and solidarity of the Turkic world are the consciences of the society. Cumabayev also fought for the independence of Kazak people, his poetry has been a cure for the Turkic world”. Saparbekuly also said, “we express our gratitude to the Turkish government who endear Mağcan and to Mustafa Ak, Mayor of Keçiören, a valuable politician who preserves the poetry of Kazakh people with monuments”.
Mustafa Ak, Mayor of Keçiören, who described Mağcan Cumabayev as “a patriot and man of action” said, “His struggle inspired those that came after him. His struggle was so scary for Communist Stalin that he could only stop him by execution. We remember him once more with mercy and gratitude. With my sincere wishes for cooperation between the two countries to continue, we aim that this monument will contribute to our unity, co-existence, and brotherhood”.
The program ended with the opening of the monument and the carnation of the monument of Cumabayev.
