February Executive Board meeting of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) was held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, by the hosting of Beykoz Municipality.
The meeting that was presided by Ibrahim Karaosmanoğlu, the President of the TDBB and the Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, was attended by TDBB Executive Committee members Yücel Çelikbilek, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Murat Aydın, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Keçiören Mustafa Ak, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak and President of Gallipoli Wars and Gallipoli Historical Area İsmail Kaşdemir.
The meeting, which started with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak giving information about the activities and agenda between January 17 and February 21, 2018, continued with the discussions on the agenda items.
In this context it was decided to support, the organizing of Experts training program about ‘Women and Family Studies in Local Governments’ on March 04-10, 2018 with the cooperation of TDBB and member municipalities; the construction of Turkish Language Classes, that were requested by the different cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the framework of sister city relations in the cooperation of TDBB and the members of the Union; the coordination by the TDBB the visit of TRNC delegation to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Azerbaijan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina delegation to Tatarstan and Azerbaijan; the transportation expenses for the visit of Enver Pozderovic High School of Gorazde to their the sister schools Atakent Anadolu High School in Ümraniye, Istanbul; the documentary project that the Bashkortostan cinema team plans to shoot in Istanbul between March 24 and April 1, 2018, by our Union; a participation on behalf of our Union to International Turkish Cinema Festival to be held on 21-25 March 2018 in Kazan; the cooperation of TDBB and Bagcilar Municipality in the ‘Sister City City Ramadan Programs’ in 2018; a review visit to Çanakkale in 2018 for the projects that can be carried out in cooperation of the Presidency of Gallipoli Wars and Gallipoli Historical Area with the TDBB; the participation on behalf of our Union at the ‘5th International Best Municipal Practices Forum’ that will be organized in Bishkek on April 10-12, 2018 by the Russian Cities Union; the purchasing of laptop, projector and projector screening by our Union that high schools in Macedonia’s Gostivar are in need of; the representation on the behalf of our Union at the ‘Sustainable Tourism and Local Development Forum’ that will be organized by UCLG-MEWA in Şanlıurfa between 13-14 March 2018.
Further, it was decided with an appropriate consultation to submit the applications of Taşköprü (Kastamonu) and Alkarmil (Palestine) to TDBB membership to the Board of Directors.
