Hodjalı Park and Memorandum were opened with a ceremony by Erenler Municipality in memory of Azerbaijan Turks who lost their life during the genocide by Armenians held in Hodjalı town of Karabakh, Azerbaijan in 1992.

Governor of Sakarya İrfan Balkanlıoğlu, Mayor of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Zeki Toçoğlu, Mayor of Erenler Cavit Öztürk, Members of Parliament of Sakarya Mustafa İsen and Ayhan Sefer Üstün, Members of Parliament in Azerbaijan Ganire Pashayeva and Sona Aliyeva, Mayor of Serdivan Yusuf Alemdar, Mayor of Arifiye İsmail Karakullukçu, Mayor of Söğütlü Hüseyin Genç, Mayor of Geyve Murat Kaya, Mayor of Kaynarca Zeynur Özel, Mayor of Taraklı Tacettin Özkaraman, Deputy Governor of Erenler Salih Karabulut and several guests were attended to the opening ceremony held in 9 February 2018.

During the opening speech, Mayor of Erenler Cavit Öztürk posited that “Our brothers were not shot dead during this genocide; they were also tortured while the whole world did not care about all these troubles. This genocide’s effects still hurt our hearts.” Mayor Öztürk thank to all participants who came to the opening ceremony.

Members of Parliament of Azerbaijan said that “These two countries needed a stronger cooperation.” and they thank to Esenler Municipality and people in Sakarya who have not forgotten the people who lost their life during the Hodjalı genocide.

Protocol members who attended to the program while they were expressing their feelings and thoughts, underlined the hundreds of years friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

After the speeches, protocol members visited and examined the park.
