Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) January Administrative Board Meeting was held in Kocaeli on 17 January 2018 Wednesday, hosted by Kartepe Municipality with the participation of Local Authorities from 7 different countries.
The meeting, under the chairmanship of President of TDBB and also Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, was participated by Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak, TDBB Administrative Board Members who are Mayor of Kartepe Hüseyin Üzülmez, President of Union of Azerbaijan Municipalities Temraz Tağıev, Mayor of Nalaikh (Mongolia) Khaan Sharavkhaan, Mayor of Novi Grad (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Semir Efendic, Mayor of Güzelyurt (TRNC) Mahmut Özçınar, Antonio Gavriloski and Igor Bezoski from Ohrid (Macedonia) Municipality, Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Burhanettin Kocamaz, Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz, Mayor of Düzce Dursun Ay, Mayor of Bilecik Selim Yağcı, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Beykoz Yücel Çelikbilek, Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Mayor of Keçiören Mustafa Ak, Mayor of Sancaktepe İsmail Erdem, Mayor of Ümraniye Hasan Can, Mayor of Gebze Adnan Köşker and Mayor of Hendek İrfan Püsküllü, in addition to Mayor of Doboj Istok (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Kemal Bratic, Tatarstan Republic Representative of Turkey Ayrat Gataullin and Secretary General of Union of Azerbaijan Municipalities Tofig Hasanov.
Before the meeting, a cooperation protocol between TDBB and Union of Azerbaijan Municipalities and another protocol between TDBB and Doboj Istok Municipality, concerning the construction of a Martyrdom Monument for those 300 martyrs who died during the Bosnian War, were signed.
Later on, the meeting continued with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solaks giving information about the activities and agenda since the last Administrative Board Meeting held on 25 October 2017 and with the discussion on the other issues in the agenda.
Within this framework, it was decided to supply a fire truck by TDBB and Bağcılar Municipality which was demanded by Skrapar (Albania) Municipality, to actualize the Project of Mostar Information Center by TDBB and TDBB members which was demanded by Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of Education and Science, to support the construction of the dormitory for secondary schools by the Union and its members which is being built by Emmaus Foundation in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to make bilateral country visits among the member municipalities consisting Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, TRNC and Tatarstan, to support the restoration project of Bratstvo Migjeni Turkish School by TDBB and its Members which was demanded by our TDBB member Tetovo (Macedonia) Municipality, to actualize the Childens Park Project demanded by Donji Vakuf (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in collaboration with its sister city Şehzadeler (Manisa) Municipality and TDBB, to organize information and experience sharing programs and expert training programs for Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Mongolia, Serbia-Montenegro and Tatarstan within the agenda of 2018, to organize an expert training program about ‘fire prevention and fire fighting’ for TRNC member municipalities in 2018 Spring Term, to give participation support to ‘4th Water Loss Forum’ that will be held in Istanbul on 29-31 March 2018, to give participation support to Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality’s ‘10th Kocaeli International Children’s Festival’ that will be held on 18-24 April 2018, to support the Master thesis of Istanbul University Graduate Student Dinara Kdyrmayeva, to start the necessary process for making sister cities between the appropriate municipalities of TDBB Members in Turkey and Municipalities in Gagauz Autonomous Region, to give participation support to ‘8th Antalya City Planning and Technologies Fair’ which will be organized in collaboration with Mediterranean Union of Municipalities and relevant organizations in Antalya on 28-30 March 2018, to organize a country visit to TRNC in 2018, to give participation support to ‘2nd International Urban, Environment and Health Congress’ which will be held in Cappadocia on 16-20 April 2018, to ensure participation to ‘UCLG-MEWA Retreat Meeting’ which will be held on 18-19 January 2018 in Istanbul.
New Members
Besides in the meeting, the membership requests of Bosaso (Somalia), Vareš (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Bayan Khutag (Mongolia), Bayan-Adarga (Mongolia), Batshireet (Mongolia) and Baruunbayan-Ulaan (Mongolia) Municipalities were accepted.
Next Administrative Board Meeting will be in Selçuklu
It was decided in the meeting that next Administrative Board meeting in April of 2018 will be made in Konya, with the hosting of Selçuklu Municipality.
