Coordination and Evaluation Meeting of the Bosnia-Herzegovinian Member Municipalities of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) that was hosted by the Municipality of Novi Grad, a Board Member of the TDBB, was held in Sarajevo on 15 December 2017.
Secretary-General of the TDBB Fahri Solak, Mayor of Novi Grad Semir Efendic, Mayor of Bihac Suhret Fazlic, Mayor of Celic Sead Muminovic, Mayor of Doboj Istok Kemal Bratic, Mayor of Donji Vakuf Huso Susic, Mayor of Fojnica Sabahudin Klisura, Mayor of Ilijas Akif Fazlic, Mayor of Zivinice Samir Kamenjakovic, Mayor of Konjic Emir Bubalo, Mayor of Pale-Praca Asim Zec, Mayor of Teocak Tajib Muminovic, Mayor of Travnik Admir Hadziemric, Mayor of Visoko Amra Babic, Diana Salihbegovic from Stari Grad Municipality, Adnan Bjelic from Srebrenik Municipality, Milos Bukejlovic from Doboj Municipality and Semir Mehagic from Olovo Municipality have participated at the meeting. TIKA Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ömer Faruk Alıcı and Director of Yunus Emre Cultural Center Mehmet Akif Yaman also attended the meeting.
Fahri Solak, who share the information about TDBB’s works in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated that the first coordination and evaluation meeting aiming evaluation of the work carried out by the member municipalities and the consultations in the new areas of cooperation was carried out in Travnik in the previous period. He thanked the Novi Grad Municipality for hosting the second meeting and thanked the Mayors and the representatives of the institutions for their participation. Then the mayors and representatives spoke one by one, sharing the projects they already did together with the institutions and sister cities from Turkey and the projects that should be done in the future. In this context, the works that were done in cooperation with TDBB, TIKA, Yunus Emre Institute and the sister Municipalities from Turkey was assessed from the various aspects. New project proposals and the needs that are the priority for the cities were mentioned.
The participating mayors emphasized the importance of the works carried out in the field of education and health and pointed out the benefits of focusing on projects that would create the employment, agricultural projects, developmental projects and etc. At the same time, the need for active and functional Sister City relations was pointed out.
The meeting that proceeded with directors of TIKA and Yunus Emre for Bosnia and Herzegovina sharing information about the activities of their institutions has ended with the common agreement on points that, this kind of meetings should be held once in six months, to be better prepared at the next meetings, each municipality should prepare a list where all the projects conducted in cooperation with Turkey is stated, to give a priority to the municipalities that have received relatively little help and those that are more in need, to establish a common fund between the municipalities in Bosnia in order to boost cooperation between the municipalities and conduct projects in Turkey, to promote the opening of Turkish companies in Bosnia and the next meeting should be held in mid-2018.
