The delegation from Srebrenica Municipality and the International Solidarity Forum-EMMAUS Association of Bosnia Herzegovina visited the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) on Wednesday, 20 December 2017.

At the meeting, Nermin Alivuković, deputy mayor of Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the members of the Board of Directors of the Emmaus Association, Elmedin Škrebo and Bernis Ademović came together with TDBB’s Executive Committee at the Union’s headquarters. At the meeting, opportunities for cooperation between the Emmaus Association and Municipality of Srebrenica were evaluated. It was agreed to support by the TDBB and its member municipalities a dormitory in Srebrenica that provides free services to primary and secondary school students.

Secretary General of the TDBB Fahri Solak said, “As a TDBB and Turkey we understand how important education is for Bosnia. The share that is directed from the state budget has risen to the first place in Turkey as well. As a TDBB we support educational projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We also want to cooperate closely with the Municipality of Srebrenica”.

Deputy Mayor of Srebrenica Nermin Alivuković said, “as it is important for Bosnia and Herzegovina in general, education is even more important for Srebrenica. Because during the war period we lost many intellectuals and educated population. If future generations remain uneducated, neither Bosnia nor Srebrenica will have the future. For this reason, your support for the project is very important to us. Thank you very much for your support”.
