Şahinbey Municipality (Turkey) and Tokmok Municipality (Kyrgyzstan), the members of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) signed a Sister City Protocol with a ceremony in TDBB Headquarters on 22 November 2017.
TDBB President İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, TDBB Executive Committee Members; Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Burhanettin Kocamaz, Mayor of Şahinbey Municipality Mehmet İhsan Tahmazoğlu, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Municipality Murat Aydın, Mayor of Bağcılar Municipality Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Beykoz Municipality Yücel Çelikbilek, Mayor of Selçuklu Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, TDBB General Secretary Fahri Solak, Mayor of Tokmok Municipality Zhyrgalbek Shamyraliev and Members of TDBB Information and Experience Sharing Program for Kyrgyzstan were participated to the ceremony.
Mayor of Şahinbey Municipality Mehmet İhsan Tahmazoğlu assumed in his speech that the relation between the two countries will develop more and more after this sisterhood between Tokmok and Şahinbey Municipalities and he said that “We have signed the Sister City Protocol between Şahinbey Municipality and Tokmok Municipality with the coordination of TDBB. We formally demonstrated our historic sisterhood which lasted very old times with this protocol we have signed. I would like to thank the President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu and Secretary General Fahri Solak and all the friends. There are also many similarities between Şahinbey and Tokmok Municipalities, for example they both are historical cities. I believe we will produce long lasting projects with Tokmok Municipality’s partnership thanks to this protocol. I wish that our sisterhood would strengthen our good relation, unity and partnership.”
Mayor of Tokmok Municipality Zhyrgalbek Shamyraliev posited that he believed that these two countries would make important works with collaboration and he stated that “I would like to thank to the President of TDBB Ibrahim Karaosmanoğlu and Secretary General Fahri Solak. Thanks to the Union of Turkish World Municipalities, we are able to carry out important works between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. We have been working with Şahinbey Municipality for 2 years and with this sisterhood, we will able to work on furthering projects with Şahinbey Municipality thanks to this Protocol. Moreover, this sisterhood promotes peace and friendship between two municipalities.”
TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak emphasized that two municipalities would be in close cooperation thanks to this sisterhood and stated that “I hope this will be a start for furthering Sister City relations for other municipalities. Furthermore, Şahinbey is one of the oldest and most historical cities in Turkey and Tokmok is also one of the oldest cities in Kyrgyzstan. I believe that these two municipalities will successfully work on numerous collaborative projects. Finally, I would like to thank both mayors for their close cooperation.”
