About Gaza
Following Israel’s attempt to occupy the Gaza Strip on 27 October 2023, the Israeli army caused massive destruction in Gaza, and within the scope of its ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing, it destroyed the city of Gaza through air and artillery bombardment, displaced its residents, and condemned them to starvation.
Gaza is an important settlement located in the southwest of Palestine and is the largest city in the Gaza Strip. Before the war, its population was around 650,000; however, due to the intense conflict, destruction, and displacement in 2025, the total population of the Gaza Strip decreased by approximately 6%, and the city suffered severe humanitarian losses. Ongoing bombardments heavily damaged the municipal infrastructure, including water, electricity, sewage, roads, and public services; significant shortages emerged in drinking water supply, and waste management collapsed. In Gaza, where the economy was already weakened due to the blockade, production, transportation, agriculture, and trade have nearly come to a standstill, making large segments of the population dependent on humanitarian aid. Today, Gaza is a city where not only the physical destruction of war but also severe economic and social collapse is deeply felt.
